Berry Healthy Delicious
Berries
Berries really are gifts from nature. If you have ever had the chance of picking berries right from a garden or gathering wild berries in the woods, you already know how delicious berries are. The most popular berries are naturally sweet, and don't require much effort to make them into a tasty treat. Just rinse and serve them for a healthy, easy snack or dessert.
Cranberry
Cranberry is great for prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections, good for low carbers, because they pack a lot of nutrition, fibre, and flavour into a package without many carbohydrates. Some studies have shown that cranberries can help prevent bacteria from causing food-borne illness, improve blood vessel function in people with atherosclerosis, and even raise HDL cholesterol or lower LDL cholesterol.

Strawberry
Strawberries are low in calories and a good source of many vitamins and nutrients that a healthy body needs. High in iron and Vitamin C, they also have less than 60 calories per cup. Eight strawberries will provide 140 percent of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C for kids. Strawberries are also a good source of folic acid, fibre, potassium, and cancer-fighting antioxidants (Meyers KJ, Watkins CB, Pritts MP, Liu RH, Antioxidant and antiproliferative activities of strawberries).
Blueberry
Blueberries help stem the effects of aging, aids in vision, and, like cranberries, help prevent urinary tract infections. They are literally bursting with nutrients and flavour, yet very low in calories. Recently, researchers at Tufts University analyzed 60 fruits and vegetables for their antioxidant capability. Blueberries came out on top, rating highest in their capacity to destroy free radicals. They also contain vitamins A and C.
Raspberry
Raspberries are an excellent source of manganese and vitamin C and a very good source of copper, vitamin B2, folate, vitamin B3, biotin, zinc, magnesium, vitamin B6, vitamin B5, potassium and vitamin A. They help prevent unwanted damage to cell membranes and other structures in the body by neutralizing overly reactive oxygen-containing molecules called free radicals (Seeram NP, Momin RA, Nair MG, Bourquin LD., Cyclooxygenase inhibitory and antioxidant cyanidin glycosides in cherries and berries).
